If you’re an early-stage founder and every good UGC ad makes you think you should be doing the same thing, then hold that thought and read this.
Ask yourself what YOU actually did after watching it.
Did you buy the product, or did you just send the video to your team because the marketing was good?
That distinction matters!
UGC can make a product feel popular, familiar, and socially validated.
But if you’re still at MVP stage, still fundraising, or still figuring out whether people genuinely want what you’re building, it’s probably not the first place you should put marketing budget.
Make sure to have this checklist before your UGC campaign:
You have customers.
You know which messages convert.
Your funnel is starting to work.
People are coming back.
Before that, keep things much leaner and do these:
Run small direct-response tests yourself.
Use Meta if that’s where your audience is.
Test different audiences, hooks and positioning.
At this stage, you’re trying to learn what actually makes someone care enough to click, sign up, pay, and come back.
That is much more useful evidence for you and for an investor than a video with a lot of views.
You need a lean, slightly scrappy marketing machine before you need a content machine.
VentureVerse gives founders AI apps for audience profiling, positioning, campaign planning, GTM, content, launch planning and more, so you can figure more of that out without immediately building a huge team around it.
